GDMG - Tuesday, January 19th, 6.30pm
What is The Story of Stuff?
From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.

December gathering:
Last month we celebrated the holidays, spent time talking and getting to know one another better, and we were entertained by one of our own: Laverne sang so beautifully. Thank you so much for singing to us! Megan from The Perfect Pear also sang a song and brought in some of her tasty dishes to share!! Thank you Perfect Pear for sponsoring December's appetizers.
We collected 58 food items for the local food pantries!!! What a great first time collection! When I delivered the food, the volunteers were most thankful. They asked who I represented, and of course I explained to them who and what GDMG was all about. They reiterated that all the food pantries in Warner Robins are still low in items. I think we need to continue our drive.
While I was there, a woman came in for food. She said she needed food that she didn't have to cook, since she was living out of her car. (I have no words, only tears)
I would love to see Green Drinks Middle Georgia gatherings spark interests and ideas and hopefully create local jobs for our community members. Remember, we only need to make enough money for our basic needs-shelter, food and clothing. Everything else is just stuff.
Remember:
Please bring more for food items if you can.
Invite another friend, relative, acquaintance to join us at the next GDMG gathering!

Lastly, I'm very thankful for having met each and every one of you. I look forward to creating lasting friendships with you all and discovering opportunities that will provide jobs in our community and good will to all by doing great things for our environment and our community!

GDMG - Tuesday, December 15, 2009
December GDMG will be a celebration. We will celebrate the holidays and get to know one another better. I am working on getting a sponsor to provide appetizers for this gathering. plus we'll have live music from Charlie Santiago who will be playing acoustic oldies/Christmas tunes for us!
Please bring can goods or box foods for a donation to the local food pantry. The local food banks are in desperate need for food.
Also bring your ideas for future topics on anything green, of course. It may be something that you are an expert in already or you want to learn more about it.
